Belinda Clark AO dons her Leadership cap for Athletes for Hope AUS

Athletes For Hope Australia is delighted to announce a new ambassador for the Athletes For Hope Australia Program. Former Australian's Cricket Captain, Belinda Clark AO has been confirmed to lead the charge.

Belinda Clark's name is synonymous with leadership, having lead the Australian Cricket Team to World Cup success in 1997 and 2005 and taken the sport to a whole new level for women and girls. That leadership mantle continued to grow post her sporting career, playing an influential role in growing women's cricket in Australia.

More recently, Clark turned her focus to developing girls and young women with her latest venture, 'The Leadership Playground'.

She's made it her purpose to empower girls and young women to find their passion to lead. She started The Leadership Playground as a platform to mentor female athletes to build life and leadership skills, something she saw was lacking.

Inspired to make a difference, Clark says, "I grew up dreaming of playing tennis because they were the only female athletes regularly on the TV. The power of role models is obvious and critical to the next gen."

"Our mission is to inspire and empower girls to thrive and find the courage to step into leadership and take the world by storm," says Clark.

Iain Roy, co-founder of Athletes For Hope Australia, approached Clark about becoming an ambassador.

"Belinda was a natural fit for the program and consistently demonstrates the values and purpose behind our organisation," said Roy.

The ambassador criteria:

  • Understand the importance of and have proven experience in community service;

  • Readily demonstrate their own passions and links to community causes; and

  • Are effective advocates, prepared to share their own stories, as to why community engagement is so important to athletes, their sports and the community.

Stay tuned for more ambassador announcements coming soon.
